Hola! I started studying Spanish 12 years ago, and it was initially difficult and quite stressful. After initially struggling with the language and feeling disconcerted, I ultimately grew to excel and become fluent. I sometimes even get confused for a native speaker! I've lived in Mexico, and I have had many experiences, both personal and professional, with Spanish-speaking people from all over the world. I'm enrolled at Portland State University, where I'm pursuing a master's degree in Spanish. I've been teaching university students introductory and basic Spanish while at Portland State. Prior to this, I've tutored Spanish for several years. As a result of this experience, I definitely can help students of any level improve their speaking, comprehension, and listening skills in Spanish. I enjoy teaching small and large groups, as well as individualized tutelage. It's nice to be able to work with someone singularly, so as to make the material personal and tailored to a student's specific strengths and interests. In addition to Spanish language instruction, I'm comfortable teaching English as a Second Language (also known as ESL) and Reading. Outside of school and work, I enjoy spending time with family, hanging out with friends, and traveling. I also enjoy culinary arts, sports, and fitness.
