Experience
I have had years of experience working as a special ed teacher, and an ELL teacher, for students from kindergarten, all the way through their senior year in high school. My degree is in Special Education and General Education for grades kindergarten through eight, with an endorsement in ESL, which I earned at the Pacific University in Oregon. I'm now working on writing a children's book, and found myself missing my interactions with students, so I have taken up tutoring. Most of my experience centers around elementary aged students, though I have worked with middle and high school students on subjects like English as a second language and preparation for standardized tests like the ACT. With younger students, I've tutored in math, English, reading, science, and preparing for standardized exams like the ISEE and SSAT, among others. I have a passion for teaching, reading, writing, and vocabulary, and appreciate each opportunity I have to share these with students on an individual basis. English is not the easiest language to learn, but I find joy in working with students as they discover the twists and turns it takes and become confident speakers, readers, and writers in the language. Outside of tutoring and writing, I like to spend time with my son and our pets.
